To Infiniti... and Beyond!

Blue and Gold Dinner tonight for Cub Scouts. Nate won an award for his cake.  The leaders voted his the "best representation of theme".  It was a joint effort on the part of the Pucketts.  Lauren and Ashley reminded us that the infiniti symbol is a "laying down 8".  Nate came up with the idea of a sign saying "and beyond".  I baked and cut out the cake, and Nathan and I frosted it.  I must say, it was pretty original.  (All the other cakes went the route of space ships and Toy Story.)  A very fun night!

 

On another note, as we frosted the cake, Nathan pointed out that this cake would be a great race track for motorcycles or hotwheels.  Just something to keep in mind for a racing-themed birthday party :)

Love these cute kids and their enthusiasm last Saturday to get in their wetsuits and go surfing.

Happy Valentine's Day!

 

Oreo Truffles

Nana and Papa are in town, and Nana always loves to make treats with the kids.  These easy "truffles" were a hit with the kids and so pretty for our Valentine celebration.

Recipe for Oreo Truffles:

one package of regular Oreos, well smashed

one 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened

Mix these two ingredients in a large bowl, using your (clean!) hands to thoroughly combine into a dough-like consistency.  Form the "dough" into small balls and set on a plate.

Melt a bag of Wilton chocolate of your choice (from Michael's) in the microwave, according  to the package directions.  Drop a ball into the melted chocolate and with two forks, gently turn the ball in the chocolate to coat, lift out, allow excess chocolate to run off, then place ball on a wax-paper-lined cookie sheet.  Melt a different color chocolate for the drizzle and use a fork to make squiggles on top the chocolate coated balls.  Once the chocolate is dry, place the truffles in paper cups.  Keep in the refrigerator.
