Well our year of Disneyland has officially come to an end. A year ago we went for Nathan's 7th birthday and bought annual passes for the family. We certainly got our money's worth. We probably went 8 times over the course of the year. I pulled the kids out of school early today so we could spend our last day there. We didn't get in the park til about 4, it was pretty crowded, Craig didn't join us til around 6, we spent $60 on pizza that some kids didn't eat, and the kids couldn't make up their minds about what rides they wanted to go on and complained about the rides we got in line for. So we only ended up going on two rides!
On the upside, Nathan got picked for Jedi training, something he missed out on last year.
And we had a magical moment as we were leaving the park. We were at the beginning of Main Street right by the ginormous Christmas tree. Craig and the 4 older kids had gone into the magic shop because there was something in there Nathan wanted to buy. Maren and I were out front of the shop in the street and the lights dimmed all down the street, music began to play, and the lights on the tree and overhead garlands as well on Sleeping Beauty's castle at the other end of Main Street began to light up and twinkle to the music. I put Maren up on my shoulders so she could see down to the castle and the rest of the family joined us. And then bubbles and little snow flakes gently fell from above. It was the best moment of the day. A little Christmas magic, Disney style.
...but it's going to be awhile before I feel the need to visit the Magic Kingdom again!
